So, again, all parts of them have been designed as their functions, not only for the appearance, though this still can be found in beginner riders that want to be cool. And it will be started from the handlebar, because the trend of handlebar slowly moves into the wide handlebar, even when the manufacturer offers many types of handlebar for certain usage.

Almost all parts of the mountain bike have been developed from its first appearance many years ago, when there was just flat handlebar for all mountain bike. But now, with the development from the mountain bike itself, the handlebar slowly follows to fit with the bike as a supporting element that will help the rider to get best performance. People like wide handlebar today, even when the wide handlebar is not for all types of bike, and people don't care about that. This size of course has been tested and analyzed for its function, why use wide handlebar, and what bikes are compatible with wide handlebar without lost its function.

To decide where handlebar want to be used, there are several consideration for the bikers may help them. First, the rider have to understand what are their bikes, the cross country bike will use different handlebar with downhill bike, so first thing to be remembered when deciding the handlebar is choose handlebar as its function. Second, the rider should understand about the track they want to pass, also. This is important, because when a track has many trees, short handlebar is better than wide. Wide handlebar will crash with the tree, and that can make the rider falls. Third, watch closely the frame size, wide handlebar is better if the frame size is medium to large. Look also the shoulder, if the shoulder is wide, wide handlebar may better. In the other words, when the track needs speed and technique, the handlebar will help the rider to surpass it, but when the track does not 'technique' to pass it, short handlebar is the rider's need.
